Dan Mesnick joins SYSTRA as Chief Operating Officer
We are pleased to announce that Dan Mesnick has joined Systra Consulting, Inc. as Chief Operating Officer. Dan is thrilled to join Systra whose depth in core Rail Operations Planning and Modeling, Signal and Communications and High Speed Rail is unique in the industry. He will be working to develop the firm’s rail and transit practice domestically and provide international support. Mr. Mesnick has over 30 years of experience in rail and transit planning, operations and rail simulation, engineering, track design, track condition assessment and maintenance planning. He has also developed railway market assessments, business plan and financial analysis for rail and transits properties at home and abroad.
Mr. Mesnick holds a Master’s in City Planning from MIT (1985) with research at the Institute’s Center for Transportation Systems, Civil Engineering, and a BA in Economics from Antioch College (1979). He gained his operator experience at New York City Transit as Project Manager, Track and Structure Department, from 1986 to 1991. From 1992 to 2007, he was the principal and founder of TransTech Management, a rail and transit-consulting firm, working with domestic clients which included Class I railroads and transits, federal government agencies, and suppliers. Internationally, Mr. Mesnick worked with World Bank, EBRD, JICA, ADB, railways, and Transport Ministries. Since 2007, he has served as Director Rail Services for the Louis Berger Group, and had progressive responsibilities at Arthur D. Little, Inc, Parsons Brinckerhoff and the Volpe National Transportation Systems Center. He is a member of TRB, AREMA and APTA Committees.
